SDG&E Hypes Massive Spending Plan

In its recently released 2045 “decarbonization roadmap” SDG&E proposes continued use of large quantities of methane, a climate change causing gas with a warming potential 84 times greater than carbon. The San Diego Union Tribune’s Rob Nikolewski reported on the roadmap and quoted PCF Board member Bill Powers regarding SDG&E’s planned use of hydrogen:

“Hydrogen fuel is pie-in-the-sky BS. It is very expensive to make hydrogen... The only reason you would do that is that you sell natural gas and want to keep using your gas turbines and that’s what SDG&E wants to do. And they put together this polished but shameless shareholder wish list to make SDG&E’s profits keep rolling in.”
